Thanking Our Outgoing Board Members

This fall, Imagine Citizens Network said farewell to two remarkable leaders on our Board of Directors. While their terms as Directors have come to an end, their impact will continue to shape our work for years to come.

Alana Kitchen

Alana Kitchen has been a driving force behind ICN’s vision to put people at the centre of healthcare. Over the past six years, she has played a pivotal role in bringing Care Opinion to Alberta—helping transform an idea into a reality through her leadership on the Multi-Stakeholder Steering Committee.

Alana’s dedication stems from her own lived experience, where she saw first-hand the gaps in communication between patients, families, and providers. Guided by that insight, she has worked tirelessly to build a healthcare system that values personal stories, transparency, and learning.

Her contributions have been far-reaching:

  • Leading the development of the Statement of Principles for Personal Health Information
  • Representing ICN on the Health Data Interoperability Working Group, shaping the Interoperability Saves Lives report
  • Serving as Board Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee, strengthening ICN’s governance and financial stewardship

While she leaves her role as a Director, we are grateful that Alana will remain closely connected to ICN—as part of our Executive Leadership Team, as Co-chair of the Care Opinion Implementation Council, and as a Special Advisor to the Care Opinion Team.

Alana’s knowledge, advocacy, and leadership have left an indelible mark on ICN, and her influence will continue to benefit Alberta’s healthcare system and all citizens.

Ali Alidina

We also share our gratitude to Ali Alidina, whose thoughtful leadership and expertise have made a significant difference during his time on the ICN Board.

Ali has been a key contributor to our Care Opinion journey, supporting licensing, technical development, and serving as a dedicated member of the Care Opinion Implementation Council. Like Alana, he was also an integral member of the Multi-Stakeholder Steering Committee that helped bring Care Opinion to Alberta in 2024.

His insight and generosity of time have strengthened ICN’s efforts to ensure citizen voices are heard and valued in shaping healthcare. Ali’s contributions have been deeply appreciated, and his commitment to our mission will have lasting impact.

Their Next Chapter, with our Gratitude

On behalf of Imagine Citizens Network, we thank Alana and Ali for their service, their leadership, and their belief in the power of citizen voices. Their legacy will continue through ICN’s work, and we wish them every success in their next chapters.
