There are times when a healthy return to normal life from a medical condition is not an option. Sometimes, making the best of a bad situation with the help of plenty of compassion is all one can ask for.
For Anne Ewen’s husband, diabetes eventually became a death sentence. There came a time when there was nothing science or doctors could do.
“Medical facilities became familiar destinations. These places assailed our equilibrium,” recalls Anne.
“I cannot describe the depth of sadness I felt watching my man deteriorate.”
In moments like this, it’s kindness, communication and understanding that matter.
Instead, Anne recalls a medical system plagued with discourtesy, unreasonable rules, conflicting agendas and “ridiculous parking fees.
“I’m not sure who was more exhausted or broken, the medical system or us.”
