At our Annual General Meeting on August 18, Imagine Citizens Network was proud to welcome three outstanding leaders to our Board of Directors. Each brings unique expertise and a shared passion for building a stronger, more people-centred healthcare system in Alberta.

Tory Hibbit
Tory Hibbitt is an Alberta- and Saskatchewan-qualified health lawyer who advises healthcare organizations, health authorities, and professionals on regulatory compliance, privacy, and risk management. A Certified Information Privacy Professional, she is the lead author of Alberta’s forthcoming Annotated Health Information Act and a sought-after instructor with Osgoode’s Privacy Law & Information Management in Health Care program.
Her experience spans litigation, governance, and strategic counsel—including chairing the Canadian Bar Association’s National Health Law Section and serving on the Rockyview General Hospital Ethics Committee. Recognized for both her academic excellence and her commitment to patient-centred healthcare, Tory brings a collaborative, citizen-focused perspective to ICN.

Karen Knutson
Karen Knutson, CPA, is the founder of Nourish Well Nutrition, where she helps individuals take charge of their health through a holistic approach to wellness. Alongside her health expertise, she is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with a Master’s in Professional Accounting and over 15 years of experience in corporate accounting, finance, and leadership—including senior roles at WestJet.
Karen currently serves as Director and Treasurer for the Health Coalition of Alberta Society and has contributed to several nonprofit boards. With her unique combination of health, finance, and governance experience, Karen offers a well-rounded perspective that will strengthen ICN’s vision for a sustainable, people-centred healthcare future.

Carolyn Trumper
Carolyn Trumper, RN, CHE, is a nurse-executive and mediator with more than 30 years of leadership across Alberta’s health system. She has advanced patient safety, quality improvement, regulation, accreditation, and health policy throughout her career.
As Executive Director for Connect Care’s Central Zone, Carolyn led digital implementation across more than 80 care sites, and she has championed health system transformation by prioritizing equity, safety, and digital innovation. She also co-founded the Grow Your Own rural BScN Coalition, enabling communities to educate and retain local nurses. A pioneer in citizen-engagement tools—from crowdsourcing forums to gamified feedback—Carolyn brings invaluable experience in co-designing healthcare solutions with the people they serve.
Looking Ahead
We are honoured to have Tory, Karen, and Carolyn join the Imagine Citizens Network Board of Directors. Their leadership and expertise will be instrumental in helping us continue to listen, link, learn, and lead alongside citizens to shape healthcare that works for all Albertans.
