Troy Stooke from IMAGINE and Tracy Wasylak of Alberta’s Strategic Clinical Networks™ are co-chairs of this work, and Patty Wickson is the project lead.

But they are not working alone. Many volunteers and partner organizations are collaborating on this project, and we appreciate each of them.

More than 245 Albertans have contributed more than 4,500 volunteer hours to Healthcare 101. Over the past year-and-a-half, these citizens – patients and family members – have helped ensure the content and design stay true to the needs of the public to access, describe and help shape Alberta’s healthcare systems.

These volunteers worked alongside the staff of nine additional healthcare organizations:

  • MyHealth Alberta with several Alberta Health Services key departments
  • The Health Quality Council of Alberta
  • Ward of the 21st Century
  • PaCER (Patient and Community Engagement Research)
  • ActionDignity
  • The Integrative Health Institute at the University of Alberta
  • Alberta’s Strategy for Patient Oriented Research (Patient Engagement Platform)
  • Alberta’s Health Advocates
  • The University of Lethbridge Faculty of Management, whose students are working with us to develop social media materials and plans to advertise the content once it is launched

We are also grateful for the unflagging support provided by healthcare professionals who have contributed their expertise in health literacy, project management, electronic storyboarding, web design and web production. Thanks to their communications assistance and leadership, all Albertans can trust this content.

As a result of this teamwork, Healthcare 101’s Content and Task Force team members received a 2018 nomination for a President’s Excellence Award [https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/info/presidentaward.aspx] for Outstanding Achievement in Patient and Family Centred Care.

We celebrate and appreciate the contribution of each of these organizations and individuals.

Of the remaining modules, Finding My Way will be the next one to be tackled by the Healthcare 101 Task Force. It will help Albertans understand how to navigate their way through the healthcare system.
